Duplex Home — Cox's Bazar

This duplex home in Cox's Bazar presented a unique design opportunity — creating a residential interior that embraces the coastal character of Bangladesh's most popular beach destination while delivering the comfort and functionality of a permanent family home.

The client wanted a space that feels connected to Cox's Bazar's natural beauty — the ocean light, the warm sandy tones, the relaxed coastal atmosphere — without looking like a resort or vacation rental. The result is a modern duplex interior that feels warm, airy, and distinctly rooted in its seaside location.

Lower Level — Living & Social Spaces: The lower floor features an open living and dining layout designed to maximize natural light and ventilation — essential in Cox's Bazar's tropical coastal climate. The material palette draws from the surrounding environment — natural wood tones, sandy beige accents, and soft blue-grey undertones that echo the Bay of Bengal visible from the area.

Staircase Design: The staircase connecting both levels serves as a design focal point — clean lines with a modern railing system that maintains visual openness between floors. Carefully positioned lighting transforms the staircase into an architectural feature during evening hours.

Upper Level — Private Retreat: The upper floor houses the bedrooms and private family spaces. The master bedroom is designed as a serene retreat with a calming color palette, comfortable furnishings, and natural light management for Cox's Bazar's intense tropical sunlight. Children's rooms balance playful design with practical storage and study areas.

Climate-Conscious Design: Every design decision accounts for Cox's Bazar's coastal climate — salt air corrosion resistance in hardware selection, humidity management through material choices, monsoon-proof ventilation planning, and sun-facing window treatments that control heat without blocking the coastal light.
