Modern Apartment — Royel Moor, Khulna (1,350 sft)

This 1,350 sqft apartment in Royel Moor, Khulna presented an exciting challenge — creating a complete family home interior that feels spacious, modern, and full of character within a mid-sized floor plan. The client, Mr. Tanvir Islam, wanted each room to have its own distinct personality while the overall design maintained a cohesive, premium feel throughout the apartment.

What makes this project special is the boldness of the design decisions. Rather than playing it safe with neutral tones everywhere, each room tells its own visual story — from the warm amber glow of the master bedroom to the playful arches in the kids' room to the Islamic geometric patterns in the prayer space. The result is a home that feels alive, personal, and deeply connected to the family that lives in it.

Master Bedroom — Warm Luxury

The master bedroom anchors the apartment with a sophisticated design language. A textured stone-effect headboard wall creates immediate visual weight, flanked by vertical LED cove lighting that casts a warm amber glow across the room. The false ceiling features a layered design with recessed lighting and a subtle border that frames the room from above.

The wardrobe is custom-designed for the room's dimensions — maximizing storage while maintaining clean visual lines. The color palette stays in warm neutrals — beige, grey, and gold accents — creating a bedroom that feels both luxurious and restful. Premium laminate finishes and integrated lighting inside the wardrobe add functional elegance.

Kids' Rooms — Playful and Imaginative

This project features two distinct children's rooms, each designed with a different personality:

The first kids' room uses a bold yellow tufted headboard as the centerpiece — cheerful and energetic without being overwhelming. The wall treatment complements the yellow with neutral tones, and the ceiling lighting adds warmth. It is a room designed for a child but sophisticated enough to grow with them into their teenage years.

The second kids' room is the most visually striking space in the apartment — featuring arched display niches in vibrant red, blue, and colorful panels. These arched cutouts serve both as decorative elements and functional shelving for books, toys, and display items. The design is playful and bold — exactly what a child's personal space should be. The curved forms and bright colors stimulate creativity and make the room feel like an adventure rather than just a place to sleep.

Prayer Space — Serene and Sacred

A dedicated prayer space features an Islamic geometric pattern as the centerpiece — a beautiful green and white motif inspired by traditional mosque design. This space is designed for quiet reflection and daily prayer, with appropriate lighting that creates a calm, focused atmosphere. The clean white bedding and minimal furnishing ensure the space feels serene and uncluttered — a spiritual retreat within the home.

This is a design element that resonates deeply with Bangladeshi families — having a dedicated, beautifully designed prayer area is not just functional, it shows the family's values integrated into their living environment.

Living Room — Dark Sophistication

The living room takes a dramatically different approach from the bedrooms — a dark, sophisticated palette with a feature TV unit wall that combines storage, display, and ambient lighting. The dark-toned TV wall with integrated LED backlighting creates a cinema-like atmosphere for evening viewing while the surrounding design maintains enough warmth for daytime family use.

The false ceiling is a highlight — a multi-level design with strategic recessed lighting and a central fan integrated cleanly into the ceiling plane. The combination of dark walls, warm lighting, and clean furniture lines creates a living room that feels premium and grown-up — a clear contrast to the playful kids' rooms down the corridor.

Dining Area — Intimate Gathering Space

The dining zone features a modern pendant light fixture over the dining table — creating an intimate, focused atmosphere for family meals. The ceiling treatment above the dining area is distinct from the living room, using a different level and lighting scheme to visually separate the two zones within the open layout. Dark wood dining furniture complements the living room's palette while the wall treatment adds texture and visual interest.

Kitchen — Functional Elegance

The kitchen is designed in a dark, modern palette — dark-toned cabinets with contrasting countertops and backsplash. The modular kitchen system provides organized storage for the extensive cooking needs of a Bangladeshi family. The layout maximizes counter workspace for daily meal preparation while the chimney integration handles the ventilation demands of heavy cooking. Under-cabinet lighting ensures the work surface is well-illuminated for food preparation.

Dressing & Vanity Area

A dedicated dressing area with mirror, vanity counter, and organized storage provides a personal grooming space — a premium touch that elevates the apartment beyond basic functional design. The mirror is flanked by integrated lighting that provides even facial illumination — practical for daily grooming and making the area feel like a boutique dressing room.

Corridor and Transition Spaces

Even the corridor between rooms is designed with intention — ceiling treatments with ambient lighting that guide movement through the apartment and maintain the premium feel from room to room. No space is left as an afterthought.

Design Approach — Every Room a Character

What distinguishes this project from typical apartment interiors is the deliberate contrast between rooms. The master bedroom is warm and sophisticated. The kids' rooms are bold and playful. The prayer space is serene and sacred. The living room is dark and cinematic. The kitchen is functional and modern. Each room has its own personality — yet the overall apartment feels unified through consistent craftsmanship quality, ceiling design language, and lighting approach.

This is the design thinking that transforms a 1,350 sqft apartment from "nice" to "memorable." The space is not large — but every room makes an impression. Every corner has intention. And every family member has a space that feels uniquely theirs.
